 Introduction to Intrapersonal Communication

In order to successfully communicate with others you must first learn to communicate with yourself. Intrapersonal communication is the most basic level of communication. You must understand who you are & what you think about your self.

Intrapersonal communication is the foundation of Interpersonal communication. Therefore, it is necessary to understand how you communicate with yourself before you communicate with others.

 What does Intrapersonal Communication mean?

  The communication we have with ourselves the self talk that determines how we view the world and how we view ourselves is called Intrapersonal Communication.

Intrapersonal is to do with self. The dictionary gives the meaning of Intrapersonal is existing or occurring with in the individual self or mind.

 Communication with Self or Self-Talk

Intrapersonal Communication is concerned with communicating with your own self. Day dreaming, thinking, imagining and problem solving fall under its purview.

Various feedback mechanisms of a human body such as hunger, pleasure and pain are also included in Intrapersonal communication.

Thinking over the Future

An example of Intrapersonal communication is thinking over the future.

What is included in Intrapersonal Communication?

Self Concept

Is the basis for intrapersonal communication, because it determines how a persona sees him and is oriented toward others. Self-concept also called self-awareness involves three factors:

1) Beliefs     2) Values     3) Attitudes

 It means that your level of knowledge of about yourself & how you feel about your self. Self-concept or self-awareness is not in born. It develops as we grow through our communication with others and from our environment.

• Real self: Your “core” self; who you really are.

• Perceived self: Who you see yourself to be.

• Ideal self: Who you want to be now or in the future?

• Social self: Who you are when you interact with others, individuals or in Social situations.

• Intellectual self: Who you are as a student and a learner; the part of you that acquires and uses knowledge.

• Emotional self: The part of you that processes feelings.

• Physical self: Who you are physically; including the concept of your own body, gracefulness and coordination, level of attractiveness, physical health and well being.

• Artistic self: The part of you that is creative or artistic.

• Self-Disclosure: Providing information to others that they would not learn if we did not tell them and Reciprocity we expect others to share similar information.

Tando Adam (Urdu: ٹنڈو آدم خان) is a town in Sindh, Pakistan.

History:

The foundation of Tando Adam was laid by Raees Adam Khan Marri, and after a while the name was changed to the shorter "Tando Adam".

The town has a number of ancient places including mosques and Hindu temples. One of the oldest temples dates back to the 16th century. Retaining its original design, it is now the Dr. Ziaduddin Government Primary School. Tando Adam Khan is also known for its large number of hafiz-e-Quran. The shrine of the poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai is 16 kilometers away from Tando Adam. The government erected a gate called Lateef Gate in memory of this poet which leads to the shrine.

Tando Adam has produced numerous politicians and scholars including Shah Nawaz Khan Junejo, Rasool Bux Mari, Syed Hassan Jameel, Manzoor Ali Khan, Rasheed Ali Khan, Wazir Ali Khan, Mushtaq Jiskani, Syed Faiz Ali Shah, Abdul Hameed Khoso and many others.

The renowned scholar Khalid Alig established an educational institution named Tadem School which gained remarkable reputation. It is now expanded to New Ali Garh Government College and Sir Syed Government High School. (Post Nationalization)

The only park in Tando Adam named Gulshan-E-Siddiqui was named after the late Dr Tahir Hussain Siddiqui who was martyred while still in office as Mayor of Tando Adam. Dr Siddiqui was in office for ten years and was the first elected mayor of Tando Adam. Dr. Siddiqui is still remembered in Tando Adam for his sincere dedication towards social work and the uplifting of the under-privileged and the destitute of Tando Adam.

Tando Adam falls in Urban Sindh Like other Urban areas of Sindh the majority of people living in Tando Adam are Urdu speaking Muhajir (Pakistan).

Various languages are spoken, including Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi and Pushto.

Economic activity:

The town has many emerging industries and is considered to be the trade hub of the district. Tando Adam has the biggest power loom industry in Pakistan. Besides this, numerous fruit juice, paper products, cotton ginning and cottage industries also contribute to the national exchequer.

It also contains many educational institutions. It is famous for its foods, including "sajji" which is exported all over the world.

The major business areas are linked with Muhammad Ali Jinnah Road. Muhammadi Chowk is the transit hub for proceeding to Hyderabad via the national highway.

On weekends, I usually go to somewhere for a picnic with my friends. I usually prefer to go with my friends rather than my family. That’s because with my friends, I can move around and enjoy myself without any restrictions. Don’t take me wrong. It doesn’t mean that I don’t like my family. In fact I love my family very much. What I am trying to say is that with family, you have to restrict yourself to a limited area. You have to obey different “orders” from your elders. You have to take care younger ones and you can’t go far away from them. In that way, you can’t really enjoy your picnic if you are a reserved or a bit "shy" kind of person like me.

On the other hand, you can enjoy much more with friends in a picnic. That's all my personal preference and you may differ from it.
